Pittsylvania County is seeking a Part-Time Building Inspector. The employee performs technical and skilled inspection work in the Office of Building Inspections enforcing compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, county code, and other related codes pertaining to the construction, erection, repair, alteration, demolition, removal and occupancy of buildings or structures in Pittsylvania County. A strong work ethic, self-starter and proven ability to work courteously with public officials, co-workers and general public is required.
Education and Experience: Possession of a high school diploma or GED with three years of experience and general knowledge in at least one of the following areas: building construction; building, fire or housing inspections; plumbing, electrical or mechanical trades; or fire protection, elevator or property maintenance work. Any combination of additional education and experience will satisfy knowledge and ability.
Hourly Rate/Benefits: $14.06 / Personal Leave Days; Employee Assistance Program.
Certifications and licenses: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain required certifications upon hire. Successfully pass criminal background check and drug test.
