Marketing is essential in promoting your business but doing it effectively continues to be a challenge for the small business.  In preparation for the new Tourism initiative underway in our area the Virginia Tourism Corporation and the Longwood Small Business Development Center have teamed up to bring “tourism-based” businesses a two part workshop to assist in building a solid and dynamic digital marketing plan. The workshops will be held in the Barkhouser Center, 2009 Bonner Ave, Taylor Bldg, STE 105, Danville, VA.

Part one is a fast paced, hands-on workshop designed to take the fear out of marketing.  Sandra Tanner, TMP, Tourism Development Specialist, will walk you through the ways to reach your customer and the many resources available from the Virginia Tourism Corporation.  Diane Arnold, MBA, CBA and former Marketing Director will provide you templates and tools for planning, tracking and measuring the results of your marketing activities.  Three sessions will be offered including an evening session on March 4th (5-7PM) and a morning and afternoon session on March 5th (10-12 Noon & 1-3PM) as to accommodate work schedules.

The second half of the workshop will be held on March 30th (5-7PM) and 31st  (10-12Noon & 1-3PM) with the same time slots available.  The 3 week break allows businesses time to do their homework, gather information and be ready for the “implementation” of their new social media plan.  Sandra Tanner will walk you through the various ways of reaching your customer using FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and the ever popular www.virginia.org (Virginia is for Lovers) site, plus many more!  The workshop is free and open to existing businesses with a tourism connection!  Seating is limited to 10 per session so registration is required.  REGISTER by going to the training tab on the SBDC website at www.virginiasbdc.org.
