John Daniel Elected as Chamber Chair
John W. Daniel, President/Owner of Daniel Builders LLC, has been elected as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce for 2016. Daniel has served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors since 2013 and has served as Chair-Elect this past year.
Daniel has also served on the Chamber’s Finance Committee and the Chamber Classic Golf Committee. He is a charter member of Danville After Hours Rotary Club.
Daniel served as chair of the former Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the former Pittsylvania County Economic Development Organization. He has also served on the Brosville Fire Department and on the Board of Directors of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia.
In addition to Daniel, Bert Eades was elected as chair-elect and Dr. Paul Erwin was elected as vice chair. Mark W. Foster was re-elected as treasurer and Steven W. Kaylor will serve as immediate past chair. Laurie S. Moran, CCE, President & CEO of the Chamber, will serve as Secretary.
Eades received his BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. From 1990-1996 he worked in the Naval Nuclear Power Program as a civilian contractor and from 1996-2010 he worked in various production and engineering roles for Corning, Inc. and Armstrong World Industries. Eades moved to Danville in 2010 to manage a Mohawk wood flooring plant, and in 2013 joined Elkay as plant manager of the Ringgold facility manufacturing residential cabinetry.
Eades served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He also served on the Smart Start of North Central Oklahoma Board of Directors where he held the positions of Treasurer and Chair-Elect. He has served on the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber’s Board since 2013 and held the position of Vice Chair this past year.
Erwin is co-owner of Chatham Animal Clinic where he practices primarily large animal medicine and surgery. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and Auburn University. Erwin is President of the Carlisle School Board of Trustees, President of the Pittsylvania County Educational Association, and an advisory board member for the Danville Regional Foundation. Erwin has served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors since 2013.
Foster is a CPA and Partner with Harris, Harvey, Neal & Co., CPA’s LLP. He is a licensed CPA in Virginia and North Carolina. Foster has been a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and Treasurer since 2010. Foster is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, and the Virginia Society of CPAs. He serves as the Treasurer of Danville Golf Club and is a Past President of the German Club of Danville. He is also a member of Tuscarora Country Club and the Young Men’s Club.
Kaylor has served as publisher of the Danville Register & Bee since 2006. He is a Past Chairman of the Board of United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County and serves on the Boards of Future of the Piedmont, Boys & Girls Club of the Danville Area, and the Olde Dominion Agricultural Foundation. He is also a member of the Danville-Riverview Rotary Club.
