Business Idea Fairs to be Held at High Schools
In partnership with Danville Public Schools and Pittsylvania County Schools, the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Business Idea Fair at five area public high schools in Danville and Pittsylvania County. Students will participate and submit a business idea for the prize competition with cash prizes awarded to the top student business ideas at each school.
The Business Idea Fair will be set up similar to a ‘science fair.’ Each student participant will have a tri-fold project board and business plan executive summary for their business idea. If students have an actual business prototype or sample(s), they’re welcome to include it as part of their display but that is not required.
Prize money totaling $1,000 will be awarded to the winning students at each school.
The Business Idea Fairs are being sponsored by the Chamber’s Teacher Creativity Grant which is funded through Danville Regional Foundation. It is modeled after the Barkhouser Free Enterprise Center’s Business Idea Fair at Danville Community College. It is hoped the Business Idea Fair will help more students see business ownership and entrepreneurship as a career path. The Business Idea Fairs are open to the public and are free.
