Advantages of Our Region

The City of Danville and Pittsylvania County are located in south-central Virginia along the North Carolina border, within a day's drive of two-thirds of the nation's population. An excellent highway system coupled with easy access to Interstates 40 and 85 make our region extremely well-suited to reach mid-Atlantic markets and international shipping facilities.

The City of Danville sits on the banks of the Dan River and is easily accessible from all directions as it rests at the crossroads of Routes 29 and 58.  Historically, the Dan River was utilized as a catalyst for industry; now the river’s value rests in its natural beauty and recreational opportunities.

Pittsylvania County boasts a rich and colorful history spanning over 250 years.  Virginia’s largest county, covering over 982 square miles, Pittsylvania offers many lakes and streams as well as a beautiful rolling countryside.  Historical landmarks, wineries, craft shows, festivals, and motor sports venues offer diverse recreational opportunities.

While Danville and Pittsylvania County are renowned throughout the U.S. for their manufacturing heritage and relaxed lifestyle, the region is also one of the top 25 locations in the country for business. Business people from around the world are discovering the vast possibilities of Danville and Pittsylvania County.
