Live Healthy Danville Pittsylvania County is being coordinated by the Leadership Southside XV class as part of their class project, “Get LEAN Southside.” LEAN stands for “Leaders Encouraging Activity and Nutrition.” The leadership team hopes that this initiative will promote healthy nutrition and physical activity, to reduce the prevalence of obesity and make the region healthier, which may increase productivity, reduce work related absenteeism and decrease insurance premiums for employers. Through initiatives, such as Live Healthy, the group hopes to stimulate economic development, improve quality of life, have a personal impact, teach active lifestyles to the region, make our citizens healthier, reduce chronic diseases – change staggering statistics, and safe lives.
