Annual Business Awards
Danville and Pittsylvania County industry, business, and government make a positive impact on the social and economic quality of life in our region. The prosperity of our community depends upon the creation and sustained growth of area businesses. The Chamber wishes to honor those individuals and businesses who have been the driving force behind enterprise and job creation in the region and to focus attention on the important contributions that businesses make to their employees, customers, and communities.
In recognition of outstanding efforts by area businesses, the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce will present five awards this year: Three Business of the Year Awards and Two Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards. The Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards are presented to the individual. The Business of the Year Awards are presented to the business.
Business of the Year Awards
Awards will be given in the following three categories:
Small Business of the Year - 1 to 10 Employees
Medium Business of the Year - 11 to 50 Employees
Large Business of the Year - 51 plus Employees
Eligibility
The business (profit or not-for-profit) must operate in the Danville and Pittsylvania County area and be a member in good standing of the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce.
Criteria
*Recognized leadership in making a key contribution to the quality of life in the region and the community where the company is located;
*Innovative and entrepreneurial leadership with regard to products, production method, or services offered;
*Active involvement in trade associations, local chambers of commerce, political action committees and other groups that advance their profession or industry locally, in Virginia, and/or in the United States.
Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards
Awards will be given in the following two categories:
The Enduring Enterprise Award will be presented to the entrepreneur whose business venture has survived the test of time. Nominees for this award should meet the following criteria:
~The business must be owned, managed, and headquartered in the Danville - Pittsylvania County region.
~The owner either founded the business or oversaw its growth.
~The business is at least five years old. (Award preference is given to businesses more than ten years old.)
~The business must be a member in good standing with the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce.
The Emerging Enterprise Award will be presented to a business owner who has created a venture within the last five years or has recently created rapid growth in their small business. Nominees for this award should meet the following criteria:
~The business must be owned, managed, and headquartered in the Danville - Pittsylvania County region.
~The owner either founded the business or oversaw its growth.
~The business is no more than five years old or has experienced significant growth within the last two years.
Nominations
To nominate a business for a Business of the Year or Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, please complete the Nomination Form.
Supporting documentation and letters of recommendation may be included with the nomination form but should not exceed four pages.
All nominations should be submitted to the Chamber by Friday, April 4, 2008.
