Workshop Set for "How to Run for Public Office"
Interested citizens who may be considering running for public office this year or in future years, or who have an interest in learning more about the election process, are encouraged to attend an upcoming workshop on “How to Run for Public Office.”
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 3, with the program beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce office (8653 US Highway 29, Blairs). The workshop will conclude by 4 p.m.
The workshop will include information on the State Board of Elections with Kelly Bailess, Pittsylvania County Registrar; perspectives on civic engagement, the involved candidate, and the campaign from John Gilstrap, Mayor of Danville; Sharon Dones, Chair of the Danville School Board, and Steven Gould, Vice Chair of the Danville School Board; and the region and the candidate with Dr. Martha A. Walker of Virginia Cooperative Extension. The workshop is being sponsored by the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Cooperative Extension – Community Viability.
