Leadership Southside develops leadership skills by providing information, education, experience, and exchange of ideas. Sessions have included orientation, leadership skills and development, team building, community issues and opportunities, crisis leadership, board leadership and communication in a nonprofit organization, effecting change, cultural diversity, and effective facilitation.

How Does Leadership Southside Work?
Leadership Southside is provided annually with each class beginning with an Orientation in August and graduating the following May.
Participants for each class are chosen based on applications and information provided from references.
Leadership Southside XXIII begins in August 2017 with an orientation. Following the orientation, the class will meet for eight monthly programs. Topics include personality type assessment, team building, vision and mission, ethical decision making, crisis management, communication, and more. A service project will also be completed in January. Participants will also be paired with a leadership mentor. The class will graduate in May 2018.

A tuition is charged to cover program expenses and must be paid by the individual or employer. Limited financial assistance may be available upon request.
In order to complete the program, participants must commit to all day attendance at each monthly session from August to April. Any participant missing more than two program days is ineligible to graduate. Participants are responsible for all transportation. There may be at least one overnight stay required by participants during the course of the program.
Leadership Southside is made possible with the assistance of a sponsorship by Danville Regional Medical Center. Sponsorship opportunities for Leadership Southside are available at the following levels: Scholarship Sponsor: $1,000 and Program Day Sponsor: $500.
